Decorative Lamps

This is a fun paper lantern craft for kids to decorate your home for Diwali and many other holidays . Make many lanterns of different colors for decorations and hang them around your home.  You can add a touch of embellishments and light with these paper lanterns. They’re simple to make, and can be created in a variety of sizes and colors.

 

 
 
 

MATERIAL

• Colored paper or Wrapping Paper


• Scissors


• Tape


• Stapler


• Ruler


• Pencil


• Glue


• Glitter, sequins, if desired to decorate your lantern

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Trim Colored Paper to desired height. A width of 10-12 inches will ensure that your lantern has plenty of room for a candle holder.

2. Fold the paper into half. Using a pencil and ruler, draw lines 1 inch apart across the width of colored paper (you’ll have to do this on the back side of your paper). Stop 1-2 inches short of the upper and lower edge.

 

 

 

3. Carefully cut slits along the pencil lines, leaving a 1-2 inch border intact at the top and bottom.

4.  Gently fold along the score line (this will help to give your lantern its shape).

5. Form a cylinder and adhere ends with sturdy adhesive.

6. Use hole punch to punch hole for threading or paste a handle to lanterns.

7. Use embellishments to make it more beautiful and attractive and more appropriate for Occasions.

8. Carefully place lanterns over small candle or even a light bulb.

9. Make a collection of lanterns for a festive grouping !
