Paper Plate Mask

Making a paper plate mask is an easy and fun project you can do for any child or group of children. After reading a book or watching a movie together, encourage your child to make masks of the different characters and recreate some of the scenes from the story.

MATERIAL

  • Disposable Paper Plate

  • Acrylic color

  • Sketch pen

  • Fevicol/ glue

  • Brown yarn or thread

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Draw a yellow circle in the middle of a paper plate. Color the inside of the circle yellow. Color the outside of the circle orange.

  2. Cut two small circles out of the plate to make eyeholes so that you can see.

  3. For the nose draw a triangle between nose. It should be upside down in the middle of the plate. Color it with brown color.

  4. Cut 6 small pieces of yarn. Glue them on for whiskers.

  5. Draw a lion's mouth under the nose using Sketch pen.

  6. Use the scissors to cut all along the edge of the plate. This will be the lion's mane. Color it Orange or Brown.

  7. Use a pencil to make two holes on the side of the lion's face where the mane has not been cut.

  8. Thread a piece of yarn through each hole and tie a knot in the front of the mask. The long piece should be on the back of the face.

  9. Put on your lion mask. Have someone help you tie the yarn around your head.
